Elite Highways was commissioned by Tesco to replace a failed 180m3 attenuation system at their Gorton Indoor Market car park in Manchester. The project was completed in February 2023.

The attenuation system is designed to absorb and dissipate sound waves, reducing noise levels in the car park. The failed attenuation system was no longer able to effectively absorb sound waves, which was causing noise levels to rise in the car park.

The project involved the following:

  • Excavating to a depth of 6.5 meters to remove the failed attenuation system.
  • Installing a new attenuation system with connections.
  • Backfilling and resurfacing the excavation area.
  • Installing furniture and white lining in the car park.
